It started like any other evening. Work was tough, and the only thing on this person's mind was relaxing with some delivered food. The plan was simple: let the dog out in the yard, wait for the delivery driver, and enjoy a quiet night in. But this ordinary evening would quickly turn into something nobody expected.
The dog, a beloved Golden Retriever, was enjoying playtime in the neighbor's yard. The fence between the properties had a doggy door, a testament to how close the two pets were. This close bond, however, would play a part in the strange events that were about to unfold.
A Routine Delivery Gone Wrong
As the food delivery notification pinged, the owner went to call the dog back inside. The neighbor's dog was also called back. The owner managed to get their dog to the door, waving at the approaching delivery driver. It was a simple, everyday interaction, or so it seemed.
Then, a game of 'Runaway' began. The owner playfully ran towards the door, and the dog chased, thinking it was a game. The owner got the dog inside, closing the screen door just in time. But in the rush, the main gate was left locked, with the delivery driver standing right outside.
Without a mask on, the owner asked the driver to leave the food by the mailbox. This is where the oddness began. The driver looked at the dog and asked, "Is that your dog?"
The Driver's Strange Reaction
Thinking it was a simple question from a fellow dog lover, the owner responded warmly, talking about the dog's name and offering a chance to say hello. The driver, however, just stood there awkwardly for a moment before quickly getting back into her car. The owner, a bit confused, took the food and went inside, dismissing it as just a weird encounter.
But the strangeness didn't end there. A few minutes later, the dog started barking wildly at the door. Checking the cameras, the owner saw the delivery driver's car still parked outside, right in front of the mailbox. This was unusual enough to warrant a second look.
Escalating Suspicion
The owner went outside to get the driver's attention, but she was on the phone and didn't notice. As the owner approached, the driver pulled away, but instead of leaving the neighborhood, she drove towards the back, a part of the area with only one way in and out. She never turned back around.
Now genuinely concerned, the owner went back inside, still watching the street. The car never reappeared. The owner reasoned that some people are just odd and tried to put the strange events out of their mind.
Police Arrive Unexpectedly
About ten minutes later, the dog started barking again, more manically this time. A quick check of the cameras revealed two police cars parked outside the house. The officers were walking around the front yards, looking intently.
