What was she planning to do to me?

It started like any other night out. A trip to a bar with a friend, a bit of flirting, and a generous offer of free drinks. But this evening quickly took a turn, leading to a chilling encounter that left one person questioning what almost happened.

This is the story of a night that felt too easy, a night where a friendly stranger might have been playing a much more dangerous game.

A Friendly

Stranger at the Bar

Walking into a bar for the first time can be a little overwhelming, especially when you're just turning

  1. The narrator and their friend found themselves at just such a place. The friend was already a bit tipsy from drinks on the way, setting a casual mood for the evening.

Soon after they sat down, a woman named Candice approached them. She had striking, bright red hair, which the narrator assumed was dyed. Candice was friendly, chatting with both of them and seeming to flirt with both. Seeing the friend was already quite drunk, the narrator decided to play along, acting a bit tipsy themselves.

When Candice offered to buy them drinks, the narrator mentioned they didn't have much money. This seemed to work, as she kept ordering for them. The narrator started to feel a little confused about who Candice was actually interested in. Was she just after free drinks, or was there something more?

The Friend's

Exit and a Suspicious Offer

The situation shifted when the narrator's friend went to the bathroom. While he was gone, the bouncers kicked him out for being too drunk. Candice and the narrator went outside to help him. Candice then started pushing the idea of the friend going home with her.

The narrator, however, knew their friend was in no state to go anywhere alone. They insisted that the friend was too drunk and that they couldn't let him go off with her. The narrator told Candice that if the friend was going anywhere, they would have to go too. They figured Candice might think they were being jealous or trying to spoil her fun.

But the friend was barely standing and had already lost interest. Candice immediately turned her attention back to the narrator. She offered to get the friend a taxi home and suggested that the narrator come back to her place alone.

Unease and a Liquor Store Stop

Feeling buzzed from the drinks, the narrator agreed. They put the friend in a taxi and walked toward Candice's car. On the way, the narrator stumbled slightly. Candice remarked on how drunk they seemed, holding their arm. The narrator felt a bit shy and anxious. Things were happening too easily, and it felt off.

Once inside the car, Candice suggested a stop at the liquor store for more drinks. She offered to pay. The narrator didn't really want to drink any more, wanting to stay somewhat in control for the rest of the night. They worried about acting too foolishly when drunk and potentially ruining things with Candice.

To avoid seeming lame, the narrator asked for a pint of liquor with apple juice. They figured it was a reasonable request, not wanting to seem like they weren't participating.

A Bottle of

Liquor and a Fake Drunkenness

Candice returned from the store with more than just a pint. The narrator assumed she wanted to drink more too. On the drive, they passed the bottle back and forth, but Candice took only small sips. The narrator, however, was pressured to drink more.

Cleverly, the narrator managed to drink all their apple juice and then started spitting the liquor into the empty apple juice bottle. They tossed the now-full bottle out the window when Candice wasn't looking. The goal was to make Candice believe they were much drunker than they actually were.

They took a few more sips of the actual liquor, finishing the bottle. Throughout the drive, the narrator intentionally called Candice by the wrong name a couple of times to see her reaction. She didn't correct them, just letting them call her 'Carla'. This made the narrator wonder if she had lied about her name from the start.

Arriving at the House

They finally arrived at Candice's house. The narrator pretended to trip and stumble as they went to the front door. Candice helped them inside, closing and locking the door behind them. This felt a little strange, but the narrator assumed she just didn't want anyone walking in.

Claiming they needed the bathroom, the narrator went inside and locked the door. Looking in the mirror, a sense of unease washed over them. They felt off, and the liquor they had consumed was starting to take a toll. To sober up a bit and maintain the drunk act, they turned on the sink to make noise and then made themselves throw up the liquor.

After rinsing their mouth and drinking tap water, they felt a bit more clear-headed. They still wanted to hook up with Candice, but wanted to be able to control the situation.

The Shocking Revelation

Suddenly, they heard Candice talking to someone outside the bathroom door. "He's drunk as hell. He can barely stand up. You do it." Who was she talking to? And what was 'it'?

The narrator opened the bathroom door and walked into the dimly lit living room. Candice was walking into another room, only the back of her bright red hair visible. The narrator called out, feigning drunkenness.

Candice walked back into the living room and approached the narrator. "Let's go in my room," she said. The narrator looked at her hair, then her eyes, and noticed something was wrong. Her face was different.

It was another girl wearing the same bright red wig. The realization hit hard: the wig had been switched. The Candice from the bar was not the same person now. The narrator's heart pounded, but they tried to act as if nothing was wrong.

They told her they needed the bathroom one more time, apologizing for being so drunk. Candice said it was fine and told them to hurry up. The narrator went back into the bathroom and locked the door.

The Escape

This time, they heard Candice whisper to someone again, and this time, a male voice whispered back. The narrator didn't focus on the exact words. Something felt very wrong, and they knew they had to get out.

Without hesitation, the narrator opened the bathroom window and jumped straight out. They ran faster than they ever had before, not looking back. They ran through backyards, jumped a fence, and hit the road.

They kept running until they saw a bright CVS store. The narrator ran inside and stood by the front entrance, feeling safe in front of the cameras. They called a taxi and headed home.

Lingering Questions

In the days that followed, the narrator couldn't stop thinking about the night. What was Candice, or whoever she was with, planning? Why the fake name? Why the effort to get them so drunk?

It wasn't about robbery, as she kept spending money on them and even paid for the friend's taxi. The biggest mystery was the wig switch. Why would one person give a wig to another? Who was she talking to? What did that room hold?

An Unexpected Update

Remarkably, the narrator later learned that the house they were at was a short-term summer rental. The people they encountered were likely strangers who had broken in for just that night and then disappeared. The house was empty when the narrator and some friends checked it out the next day. This detail only added to the unsettling mystery of that strange, terrifying night.
